Bar-tailed Godwit? Kent, UK (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Saw this bird briefly on the beach at Pett Level about a week ago. Is it a Bar-tailed Godwit? If not, what is it?

Thanks,

Tim

P.S. I've just realised its Sussex, not Kent

Yep Bar Tailed Godwit, Black tailed would show very distinctive white wing bars in flight and of course a Black tail.

Another good feature for seperating Barwit from BlackT.Godwit, is the slightly upturned bill, helpful...especially at distance.

cheers

It is a Bar-tailed Godwit.

One small point - Pett Level is in East Sussex.

Ha, thanks, yes I realised this just after I posted - hence the edit, shame you can't edit thread titles! I had been along the road to Dungeness as well that day so got mixed up as to where everything was!
