Hello,

I took a photo of this cute pair during lunch at the Pilanesberg game reserve (South Africa) in late July. Any help with identification will be very much appreciated :]

Boris.

Only if they're breeding males. Non-br males and female weavers are an African nightmare, second only to cisticolas!! ;)

Great, thanks a lot - those were for my photoblog, and it's nice to be able to tell people what they actually are.

(Erm, sorry for the extra question, but nightmare in what sense?)

Just that most of the weavers in female/non-breeding male plumages look very, very similar and therefore can be a complete nightmare to id at certain times! With cisticolas it's the same unless they call and as Nick rightly says, female sunbirds can be just as bad especially as they move quicker!!
