This was photographed in eastern Ontario. There are only so many turtle species in Ontario. Yet, I can't figure out what species this is.
The carapace is arched and maybe 5 inches. I thought maybe Eastern Musk turtle/Stinkpot Musk but it is lacking the yellow line running near the eye. Maybe it will grow in later? Has long tail which was tucked into shell. Actually, I do not know what type it is. It doesn't have any discernible ridges along the back of shell to be a baby snapping turtle.
Any ideas?
