SACC Proposal 460

AOU-SACC Proposal #460 passed Aug 2011:
Van Remsen, 2 Aug 2011: "An additional proposal passed last night (Buteo split), but I haven't had the time to implement that yet."

Van Remsen, 8 Aug 2011: "SACC: proposal 460, the major rearrangement of Buteo and Leucopternis has passed, and I think I've got all the changes implemented.
This leaves the unfortunate but temporary situation of having 3 Leucopternis with the genus place in parentheses currently residing next to their relatives in Buteogallus. The proposal to fix that problem (459) was defeated, so I will try to revive a version of that proposal as soon as possible."

SACC Proposal 460

"...This leaves the unfortunate but temporary situation of having 3 Leucopternis with the genus place in parentheses currently residing next to their relatives in Buteogallus. I was wondering what Van Remsen would do with the Leucopternis spp within the scope of failed proposal 459.

Proposal 460 also results in more inconsistencies between NACC and SACC:
  • Leucopternis (Morphnarchus) princeps
  • Leucopternis (Pseudastur) albicollis
  • Buteo (Rupornis) magnirostris
  • Buteo (Geranoaetus) albicaudatus
Hopefully all such intra-AOU conflicts will be resolved asap...
