Head Advice (1 Viewer)

I have the opportunity to purchase a used Gitzo GH2720QR Series 2 Magnesium 2 Way Head is in mint condition. I am using a Manfrotto 128RC2 at the moment, any advice from members who use this Gitzo head would be appreciated

Many thanks

I have an early production example of the Gitzo GH2720QR head and several Manfrotto 128 variants.

The single complaint I have about my Gitzo specimen is that the panning function cannot be loosened enough to be completely smooth and fluid. It's always slightly sticky, which cases backlash and difficulty critically centering an object, especially at high magnification. The tilt function is fine. I read reports of similar behavior in other units. This could be a sample variation problem or it may have been corrected since the early production. I would want to check any unit for this problem.

The 128 is less convenient since both the tllt and pan have to be locked then reset pretty much every time the tripod is moved. Even the most stable of the 128 variants (the LP version) is not as free from vibration as the Gitzo 2720.
