3130 vs. 701 for FS 60 (1 Viewer)

What would you recommend for a Nikon FS III 60mm scope: the Bogen 3130 head or the 701? The existing posts on the Forum seem to address the FS 82, but not the 60.

Any feedback much appreciated. Thanks!

The Nikon Fieldscope EDIIIA is quite a tail heavy scope. My personal saga re the 701 head with this scope is here http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=41719

Due to the inconsistancies between different samples of this head and the tail heavy nature of the scope you are unlikely to get it to balance out without modification. See post #25 for pictures.

The Bogen 3130 ( Manfrotto 128 ) works straight out of the box.

If you are not able to view/test these heads and have to purchase mail order or over the net I would suggest the 3130.
