Blackbirds nesting (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone

Wondered if anyone can give me some advice - I had a blackbird nest in my clematis this year, but due to the fact that a) I went on holiday (already booked) and b) the severe dry weather. The chicks were born (5) and when we got back after a week, they were all still in the nest but they had died due to lack of food. We managed to scoop them out, but do not know whether we need to get rid of the nest as well. Do birds smell 'death'? Many thanks in advance for any info anyone can give on this delicate subject.
