Dashing across campus I was brought to a stop by the call of "Look at me"
Coming from high up in a tree.
I looked and looked but couldn't quite see
Was it a leaf-warbler (Pallas's) or the cousin of the chickadee (Coal Tit)?

I need Zen-Rays!

Winter yesterday, spring today...

True for us in north China too!

And my first official post, apparently is to take a chance to win some cool prizes. Life is good.

Welcome!

The soft smoky grey ruff, the striated chestnut facial disk, with piercing bright yellow eyes, the wild black and white '60's mod' striping (what sort of sky during the harrier's evolution must have required such a colour scheme for camouflage!),
The beautiful (I don't even know the word to describe the beauty of the rufous reddish colour!) white spotted torso, and finely freckle-fringed supermodel-like long yellow legs,
Glossy silvery slate grey upper wings, with spotted band, and golden diagonal wreath, matte rufous leading edge triangle, long jet black fingered primary feathers, etc, etc.
Aarrggh! the list goes on .... just too beautiful for pics or words !

Ah yes now I see the "smoky grey ruff" (nicely shown in the above pic). Very nice description!

Bitterly cold with a numb face, got to work keeping good pace.
Only seen gulls as I sped by, then back at work I gave a sigh.
