I was birding the shoreline of Cumberland Island at Stafford Beach last month, and in a scan of the ocean, I picked up this bird (Western Grebe). I was surprised to see it, and I figured it might be rare this far east. In looking at the website of the Georgia Ornithological Society, this is a review species in the state, so I submitted a report. My camera is not great, but I got a few shots for documentation, some of which are attached. All photos have been cropped. The other bird is a Black Scoter (or American Scoter to some people). The grebe was a nice bird to find in an unexpected location.
