Birding news from Hungary (2 Viewers)

1 ad. female Wilson's Phalarope in Hungary on 13 April 2011, in Tetétlen, close to Hortobagy. This is the 3rd record for the country. The first on Oktober 2005, 2nd April-May 2007. More info: www.birding.hu

It's a very adaptable species, and more and more likely to be seen beyond it's usual distribution as climate changes. I've noted increased sightings of Red-footed Falcon in eastern Austria over the last few years, perhaps a range re-establishment much like Ferruginous Duck and Pygmy Cormorant.

How has Levant Sparrowhawk fared in Hungary in recent years?

PS I hope to be back at the Seewinkel in October - it had 70% of its annual rainfall in July...

We have thought about the origin of this bird as well, but we think he can come directly from N Africa, here was some weather front from that area, or from Spain because of the forest fires, who knows...
Here are no data of Levant Sh since 2010.
Have you seen the crane migration in Hungary also in Oktober? This is a very attractive event.
