I say unknown but I'm struggling. It's a long shot I know and this is definetly a long shot.

I'll wait for the first Coot shout :t: lol

Any ideas anyone??

Well it looked like a Little Grebe with it's head all scrunched up, but then I only get easy ones right (and even then, not always).|=)|

A Ruddy Duck would make sense as there was a definate male RD around still showing summer plumage.

I'll put this down as a female/Juv from looking in Collins.

BTW Chris, there were quite a few little grebes at a similar distance but the bill shape made me think otherwise hence the question.

It's my old eyes, Chalky, and the fact that I've been trying for a few weeks to get a Little Grebe picture (they dive when they see me coming). So I thought, "Oh look, a Little Grebe"|=)|
 
I've just read up on Ruddy Duck and didn't realise the situation, especially with them being culled.

If I see any Defra marksmen around I'll know why now......
