Fine looking Vesper Sparrow Niels as mentioned by others. The characteristic - for Vesper - rufous lesser coverts are slightly visible here (often hidden), the whitish unbroken eye-ring and whitish sub-moustachial stripe, the one between the dark stripe (malar stripe) on the sides of the throat and the dark moustachial stripe (lower edge of the auriculars) that curves and surrounds the lower edge of the auriculars, which together with the throat and fore supercilium being the palest area on the head.

Thanks Jan,
is it several year prior to this one that I last looked at any US sparrows, so even though I was 99% on it I wanted confirmation.
