Hi, I'm hoping that someone can tell from these terrible pictures what this bird is. It was at quite a distance and was against the sky so it has come out realy badly, also I did not have long to get a picture. We thought it was either a Redpoll or a Linnet, but possibly a Twite (although probably not). Its breast was very streaky altough you cannot really see this in the picture. It was in a heathland area with lots of gorse but was sat at the top of a small, low tree and was singing away (sorry I can't recall how to describe the song).
Thank you.

Thank you both. How do you know?

Its difficult in that light but you can just aobut make out that the back and wings are quite warm (compared to the pale belly) and the grey head.
