Florida.....what are the colors of your warblers like in January..... dull and drab or colorful? I am looking for a small Florida trip soon...thanks in advance, jim

Hi lmans:

It depends on the species. Birds like Yellow-rumped, Palm, Cape May, and Magnolia will be washed out compared to their spring equivalents. American Redstart, Prairie, Black-throated Blue, Worm-eating, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush, and others always look the same.

Remember, all the diversity (22 species this year) is in SE Florida -- mostly in tropical hardwood hammocks, suburban parks, and gardens.

Carlos.... Thanks...I spend a few days down there...rained one day entirely!...but a good time. I did see several warblers in Matheson Hammock....some interesting birds in Everglades but no Flamingoes.....

On the rainy day, I made it down to Big Pine in the Florida keys and saw Great White Herons and Frigates.... so that was a good adventure for the day.

Nice time all in all....Purple Gallinules were another lifer for me.... jim
