Canon 70D focussing problems (1 Viewer)

I recently bought a Kowa PA-7 adapter to have a go at using my DSLR (a Canon 70D) through my TSN883 scope & 25-60x eyepiece. But I'm finding focussing almost impossible. Despite having the diopter setting correct for my eyes on the camera, if I try and focus the scope through the camera viewfinder the resulting image is always completely out of focus.

Using live view on the LCD screen isn't much better - even when using the zoom button to assist focussing, the captured image usually seems to be focussed behind the bird, even when it looks perfectly in focus on the screen.

Any thoughts? Other than giving up and getting something like a GX7!

Thanks.
