Sleeping Little Grebes (1 Viewer)

Hello,

Tonight I was out looking for owls on the Island. I came to a place called "the back of of the island", so much thought was put into that name! :)
It is a very sheltered estuary. It was dark and the tide was high with clumps of sea weed floating near the shore. I noticed three birds who were sitting motionless, which i thought was strange, because of the darkness. When i looked closer i realised they were little grebes who were resting on the seaweed in the sheltered water. They were ovbiously sleeping there for the night. Has anyone seen anything like this before? I always thought they would take cover at night.

Seán.
