Bird driving me crazy - what is it? (1 Viewer)

In my back garden (in the midlands, UK) I can repeatedly hear a bird that sounds just like a beeping alarm. That seems to be all it does ... single beeps (1-2 seconds), repeated .... over and over again. Could easily be mistaken for an alarm clock (only slower!)

I would love someone to tell me what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks

Great Tits can be very monotonous and loud once they get going, and they don't always do the dysyllabic 'teecha' call.

Welcome to Birdforum. ;)

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't think it's a starling. Could be a great tit - we have a few of them hanging around but it seems very loud for such a tiny bird! I shall have to creep up on it.

Well I did some proper research and spent a whole 5 minutes tracking down the offending/charming bird - it is a great tit as Laurence suggested, a very loud, very monotonous one.

Thanks.
