The Peterson Field Guide series has two titles (Eastern/Central and Western) by Conant and Stebbins, respectively. Both are very good. I especially like the Eastern guide's plates. Anyhoo, although the latest edition of the eastern guide has all the recent taxonomic changes, this new edition also rids of quite a bit of natural history info in the species account to save space I suppose. I keep an older edition around for that valuable information.
