Well that was a quick month, we finished February on 84 species and we added eight species to the year list: - Merlin, Barnacle Geese, Brambling, Skylark, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Shelduck, Blackcap and Stonechat. The White Fronted Geese Clocked up twenty days in the Valley, on the 15th Matt Hadlington had the 32 birds circle Forge Mill then shortly after he had a second flock of 38 birds, could we have had 70 birds that day? The 9 birds seen on the Reserve on the 15th where more than likely the 9 birds seen at Gailey. The Pintail spent the month with us, other highlights being a probable first winter Yellow Legged Gull seen twice on Swan Pool, Whooper Swan, Barn Owl and Great Black Backed Gull. Also some decent counts: - Ring Necked Parakeets x35, Redwing x120, Fieldfare x50, Snipe x90, Jack Snipe x12 and the end of the month saw 6+ Stonechats in the Valley
