Advice for Monopod for EF600L (non IS) (1 Viewer)

Just bought a used EF600L for my 30D. I purchased this lens for bird photography, I do alot of hiking here in Ontario Canada. I have a tripod Giotto MT 8160 Carbon fibre and Slik Ball Head 800, but would like something in a Monopod ( Carbon Fibre ) for my hiking.

Any suggestions as to a make and model of Monopod would be very much appreated. Would I use the same ball head I have or need another?

Cheers Dave C
