I lured a barred owl to my yard (1 Viewer)

I was able to lure a barred owl to my yard using a barred owl call I found on the internet. I simply opened the back window and placed the computer speakers on the window sill.

The response was immediate, and the bird even flew into my yard ready to confront the interloper. I was able to stand under the tree and take a photo. I don't have a telephoto lens so the picture is not that great but you can see it.

My account of the experience and the photo are on my blog--

With a little practice Barred Owls are fairly easy to imitate vocally. I would limit my use of playback or imitation, however, as they may be tending a nest.

I stopped after that one time.

I didn't want to disappoint the owl, if it was looking for a mate.
