Can anyone help with id?

Thanks and best regards,

Mathias,

Valery ot Tristram may be right but can we explore another option..

However, do you have any other photos? I just want to make sure it isnt a very young red avadavat. I would expect two buff wing bars if it was which I cant see. I would also see a chestnut rump and but I cant tell the colour from you picture.

I might be imagining the first signs of red in the bill of your bird.

I saw a flock of 11 immature avadavat in Salalah 3 weeks ago even though its not supposed to be there.
