Seen loads in North America but never in Britain
 
Female Golden-winged Warbler are also nice...same pattern but more subdued. Although the odds of one showing up have to be declining since they really are not doing good in the US right now.

P.S. Dendroica no longer exists :)

Red-throated Thrush
Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler
Golden-winged Warbler - was in Thailand - blown it then!
Long-billed Murrelet -was in Ethiopia / Kenya
Pine Grosbeak - was in Australia
Belted Kingfisher - was in Cameroon
Sooty Tern - was in Galapagos; missed by 10mins in Northern Ireland on return
Royal Tern - missed five
Ruppell's Warbler -was in Australia

shoud get a few of them back one day!
 
I'd love to see any of the American warblers - particularly a hooded warbler.
In no particular order...

American Warbler
Roller
Bee-eater
Sib. Rubythroat
Bluethroat
King eider(drake please!)
Snowy owl
Any shrike
Wallcreeper
White throated robin(Aaarrrgh!)

Mind you, I still have lots of birds which I really should've seen by now, gropper being at the top....

land locked,spend a few days at H'pool/Flam'boro late Aug/early Sept

If only I had the patience, an hour here and there is as much as I can take. Strange to get sooty and great shearwater this way with still no manx but thats just the way it goes.

'Do' Flamboro in the hour after dawn in late summer and you should fill some holes pretty easy.

Thought I'd revive this thread since I've had a decent crack at these species since I posted and got 7 of my 10 most wanted. Wondered how others were getting on?

New list looking like:

1. Long tailed skua
2. Storm petrel
3. Quail
4. Red flanked bluetail
5. Buff breasted sandpiper
6. American golden plover
7. Bonaparte's gull
8. Radde's warbler
9. Dusky warbler
10. Olive backed pipit

Inspired by some near misses this year, hopefully I can make some headway on these next!

Got Belted Kingfisher this month! I'd add Pallas's Sandgrouse to the list, in its place..

And I thought i was the only person who didnt see it!

I could only wittle it down to 40 species, so these 10 are (in all but one case) selected because they would also world ticks.

Caspian Plover – dipped on 1988 bird
Long-billed Murrelet – fazed, but heard about it on radio, went, dipped by 1 day
Hawk Owl
Egyptian Nightjar
Black Lark – fazed, really reget not seeing this one
White-winged Lark
Dusky Thrush
Rufous-tailed Robin – dipped with everyone last year.
Eastern Crowned Warbler – the only non-world tick included, was on Scilly.
Yellow-browed Bunting – fazed for Scilly bird
