Birds Moulting already?? (1 Viewer)

I've seen a male blackbird (Think it is the resident one as he always perches on the same place, on top of our neighbour's roof and sings in the evenings) looking really scruffy with feathers sticking out everywhere and I had also been wondering what had happened to all the robins lately, as I haven't seen any in our garden for quite a while, until tonight, when I saw one and he/she had a lot of their outer brown feathers missing and just had their grey under feathers showing!

I thought garden birds didn't moult until later summer, not this early??
