Hi all,
I'm in the market for a new scope, but unfortunately on a fairly restricted budget. I'm very tempted by the Prostaff 5 82-A, which I tried at the Birdfair yesterday. To my eyes it is superior optically to my other choices and is also cheaper and lighter - however, I worry about the build quality of the Prostaff 5 body (not the optics), having read reviews that it is poor and is made of cheap materials (not being the biggest expert on scopes, I'm not sure exactly what 'cheap materials' means as opposed to 'good materials' - presumably the quality of the plastics and rubbers used in manufacture?).
What are people opinions on the build of this scope (apologies if this is too vague a question) - avoid or not?
Bearing in mind it will only have relatively light use - I will only be using it perhaps one day a week in the winter and very little in the summer (I tend to concentrate on entomology in the summer months).
Thanks in advance
