N of England peat bog plant - id please? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know what this is? Mostly growing in shallow water in raised peat bog in north west England. Many thanks.

A sedge of some sort.

It looks very wet.. raining? It rather reminds me of what I call 'bog cotton', or would if it was dry and fluffy LOL .

Thank you.

Definitely a sedge of some sort. I think it will require someone with specialist knowledge to identify the exact species.

I agree with Delia, it looks like flowering Eriophorum angustifolium (aka Bog Cotton, Common Cotton Grass).

Thank you. I have never really looked at the flowers before. Most photos only show the plant in fruit. It is only a short distance from home so I will be able to go back and have another look when they should be in fruit.
