Hi,

how is possible to find out if it is
Northern Giant Petrel
or
Southern Giant Petrel

Should be Southern Giant petrel, due to dark iris and not reddish, but greenish-yellow bill tip...but I will check if I remember this right.

EDIT-Uh I see on one photo bill tip looks reddish (was that the same bird, Dieter?)...have to check literature

I made this pictures in Kaikoura ( NZ ).
The small petrel I think is Westland Petrel.
