Seedeater, north Argentina (1 Viewer)

JWN Andrewes

Poor Judge of Pasta.
I have a tentative identification in mind, but though I'd see what others thought. Taken a few days ago in Ibera, Corrientes, I saw 4 - 5 scattered up to 6 km apart, with varying amounts of black on the face (this was about average, on one the black extended further down the throat and appeared more solid). Habitat was miles of open tall marshy grassland with occasional patches of woodland and open water.

Cheers

James

A caveat worth mentioning, on brief poor views I had the bird pictured down as a possible Bearded Tachuri (in spite of having seen both similar looking Seedeaters already, and having had excellent views of Tachuri a couple of days prior).
And for what it's worth there were indeed Capped Seedeaters nearby.

Cheers
