Hawk ID (1 Viewer)

I need help. I am leaning toward Cooper's on this one and I would like some expert opinions. Photo taken yesterday (7/15/03) at my backyard birdfeeder. Using the birdfeeder for scale, I estimate the hawk to be 18-20 inches tall. I live in southeast florida, USA, and my backyard borders a wetland preserve. Thanks.

Thanks for the ID confirmation and praise :D

He is lovely, isnt he? My dad did flip out when he saw it, but probably not in the same way. He was upset because the hawks have been preying on the doves at the feeder. I try to explain to him that hawks have their place in the ecosystem as predators and that is the way of nature, but he doesnt understand. He loves "his" doves.

There is a pair of red-shouldered hawks that nests in the preserve and hunts in the yard for about 3 years now. This is the first cooper's I have seen in the yard. How exciting!
