Minox is a German company, as the ad states, but the binoculars aren't made there as the ad implies. I suspect they are made in Japan but there is nothing on my BD 10 x 32 BR Asph. or in the literature supplied with it that states where it is manufactured. The price, however, seems to be very good, especially with the additional 20% rebate coupon. Camera Land in NYC also sells them as demo's, samples and discontinued. www.cameralandny.com

The older heavy BDs have been discontinued - the newer lighter ones are due very soon.
They are of Japanese origin BTW. |

In checking the specs on the Minox website....
Quote:
The old model weighs a 'whopping' 2.2 ounces or 65 grams more , but it has a wider FOV at 1,000 feet than the new BD 10 x 42 BR (351 feet vs. 321). It seems like a pretty good trade-off to me for a savings of at least $250. Am I missing something here? Thanks in advance. http://www.minox.com/index.php?id=1667&L=1 |
