Downy Woodpeckers

Our Downy Woodpeckers have just returned. It's amazing how many species return to the very feeding stations that they were at year before. They left shortly after the arival of the English Starlings that devoured the suit over and over. I had the suit back up in ten minuits after they showed.
The White Throated sparrows have shown up in force. I am still waiting for a few others.

Guess I'm lucky here.... the downies are here all year round as are the hairy woodpeckers. I'm hoping the white breasted nuthatches will return but no luck yet.

Doug, Do you have alot of snow buntings in Alaska this time of the year.I saw a dozen snow buntings here last week and it is quite rare to see them in our area.

Oh! I had the most snow buntings this year that I ever have! They were here for a few weeks and I had at least 30... it was wonderful! I've only seen 3 in the past week though, so I think they've moved on.
:( I've also only seen a couple of redpolls so far this year but I don't normally see them in any great numbers until later in the winter. Doug, I hope you get to see all the snow buntings and redpolls you want! :)
