well no one got 15 on the first try. some entertaining answers. I will spare the blushes of the birders who thought the answer to 13 was Grebe
1. Which amphibious mammal lives in a holt? Otter 2. What sort of animal is a Muntjac? Deer 3. What is the only venomous snake found in Britain? Adder or Viper 4. Which is Britain's largest deer: fallow, musk, red or roe? Red 5. Myxomatosis has killed millions of which animal? Rabbit 6. What is Apis mellifera more commonly known as? Honey bee (1 point for Bee) 7. Where does a badger live? In a sett (or set) 8. What is Britain's smallest mammal? Pipistrelle Bat (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) or the Pygmy Shrew (Sorex Minutus) - the bat is smaller, the shrew much lighter, so either is allowed (1 point for just Bat or Shrew) 9. Which animal brought the Bubonic Plague to Britain? Black rat or Rattus Rattus (1 point for rat) 10. Brownsea Island in Poole harbour does not have which common mammal? Grey Squirrel (they have red squirrels there) 11. Where do Britain's eels breed? Sargasso sea (in the West Atlantic) (1 point for Atlantic) 12. Which animal can lock the hammer, anvil and stirrup bones of its ears to stop them vibrating? Bats - so they don't hear themselves sending their high pitched call used to locate insects 13. Common and Great Crested are types of what? Newt (not Grebe - there is no Common Grebe) 14. What animal rests in a form? Hare 15. Which bird of prey hovers whilst looking for a meal and is often seen over motorway verges? Kestrel |
