Have you had a chance to examine any of the Monopods from Monostat:

http://www.monostat.com/E/monostat_catalogue.php

I use one with a Leica 12x50 BA

Happy bird watching,

The Manfrotto range should have something to suit & you can usually find a decent SH one for reasonable cash

Hi,
I had to get a new Monopod when i got my Bigma and the best i found was Giottos MM9150 it will hold upto 15kg, all the others i tried started to slide down with the weight but the Giottos didn't budge one inch! pretty cheap too!
Cheers
Brian

have a look at the Manfrotto 679B - good solid beast will hold up to 10kg all for just ~£32
