I have saved two thirds the price of a sigma 50-500 for my Pentax K10D and have found out that they do not do the HSM version in Pentax fit.Before I shell out £700 on a lens that most people say is an excellent, is the HSM that important and if so would I be better saving myself a few bob and getting the 170-500 instead.

The HSM version of the 50-500mm focuses faster & is quieter.It is slower on the none HSM very good lens would still buy it.Whether hsm or not you still need good light as the lens is a f6.3.

Hi did you end up getting the 50-500 ?? If not you may like to rethink as there is a new 150-500 from sigma for pentax mount which will have HSM I might even quit my 50-500 for the new version if the IQ is the same or better

Hi Nick yes I did get a Bigma.I heard it was heavy but don`t find it a problem.Don`t find it being non HSM a problem either and the IQ is a big improvement on my previous 70-300.Don`t know how much the new 150-500 is but I only paid £699 for the Bigma.

Hi that equates to about $1500 AUS I managed to pick mine up for $1400 18 months ago but I believe they have gone up to $1600 despite the aussie dollar being on a record high go figure.I believe mine was the last one in stock as I heard of 2 other people having to wait 3 months for theirs and pentax is becoming quite popular in oz. Have fun with the Bigma it has limitations but it is a great lens
