Hi all there!
On a msn-newsgroup (http://groups.msn.com/NikonCoolpix4500supportgroup) i saw the following message! Its a story about a russian guy who wrote a small computer-program wich enables/disabels the DIAG-mode on the cp4500. In DIAG-mode the camera saves for every taken picture, the choosen picture file-format (JPEG/TIFF) AND the full RAW-data of the CCD!!! This RAW-data can then with help of another prog be converted to a .NEF type of file. This file can then be modified with Nikon Capture, THE digital darkroom for the true Nikonian!!! There are some problems, however! -If something will go wrong with your camera and you have to send it in for repair and Nikon finds out that your 4500 is in DAIG-mode, your warranty will expire! -The flash-card is very quickly filling up with the very LARGE -.raw-files!! And you are not able to turn off the diag-mode without your camera being attached to your computer. I tested the function for functionality and it works, i only do not have nikon capture for full .NEF-functionality! Nikon view 6.0 has also .NEF-functionality, but you can't do much altering on the pictures! When i have nikon capture i will post some testresults here!!! if you are interested: first visit http://e2500.narod.ru/raw2nef_e.htm to get the RAW to NEF converter. Then go get the Nikon 4500 RAW enabler http://e2500.narod.ru/news.htm Use the enabler to connect to your camera and change the firmware so it will take a raw files then use the RAW to NEF converter to convert them. I recommend you read all the notes on the site (TIP: choose the english version of the site; my russian (and yours) is not that good these days ;-) ) Good Luck !
