Cooper's Hawk or Sharp-Shinned Hawk?

Finally got some decent hawk images today and ran across either a Cooper's Hawk or a Sharp-Shinned Hawk along the Arkansas River this morning. Not really sure. According to the database on the Cooper's its plumage and coloring is close, but it has no dark cap. Not sure if that is must have or if there might be different plumage between males and females.

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Kevin

It's actually a Buteo; Red-shouldered hawk.

Nice photo. As has been said, it's not an accipiter but an adult-plumaged Red-shouldered Hawk. Red-shouldered Hawks are often described as "accipiter-like", particularly in flight.

Neither, it's a Red-shouldered Hawk. While these are structured somewhat similarly to a accipiter, they are actually a buteo.

Thanks for the replies. Am I to assume that the Red-Shouldered Hawk is a lot smaller than the Red-Tailed? This particular bird was about the size of a crow. The Red-Tails I had just shot were nearly as large as the adult Bald Eagles in the area.
