Bargain bins?
Lovers of bargain bins might like to have a peek at the American ‘Better View Desired’ website (up-dated after a long lull) which gives a big ‘thumbs up’ for Celestron Regal roof prism binoculars. In particular the author compares them favourably with ‘high end’ binoculars concluding, basically, that, although they’re not quite as good, they’re not very far off. Despite being a confirmed devotee of x8 bins, he reserves particular praise for the 10x50 model (although the field of view is on the narrow side). As far as I know the Celestron range isn’t available in the UK, but they look identical (down to details of the body ‘armour’) to the Avian range available in the UK … which is currently selling the 10x50s for £299!
