Swiftlet, Singapore

As I got no answers yet, I try it in this category:

I'm just doing the Swifts and Swiftlets in Opus. In here: Edible-nest Swiftlet there is a picture of a Swiftlet in Singapore. Now if we split German's Swiftlet from Edible-nest Swiftlet, would this still be one or is German's Swiftlet the breeding species in Singapore?

Thanks for any comments

André

Hi Andre,
According to Robson Black nest swiftlet, C.maxima & Germain's breed in Singapore, and Glossy (C. esculenta) used to. Edible is a non-starter.
Which one is pictured here I can't say - though perhaps the nest colour is a clue. If I was to hazard a guess based on underpart colour I would say Black-nest.

Hello,
The birdsnests provide in a good feature regarding the species. Ironically, a birdnest that will cost about US$36,000 a kg, provokes so few reactions here at the site.
Anyway, the nest shape and colour provides indeed in a clue concerning the species. So does probably the location of the nest attached to a man made structure.
Germain's:http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdim...=83&pagesize=1
Black-nest's:http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdim...=83&pagesize=1
Edible-nest:http://orientalbirdimages.org/birdim...=83&pagesize=1
I have a lot more difficulties to state it is Germain's on plumage, but looking upon its nest and location, it is so.

Thanks both, that's what I thought. I will change the picture to the correct opus entry.
