Distribution text under "wintering" formerly read:
Quote:
Winters around the British Isles and from Denmark to southern Spain and the Atlantic coast of North Africa. Smaller numbers at various sites in the Mediterranean and at the head of the Persian Gulf. Non-breeders often present in winter range all year.
...but regarding "wintering" range, Clements says, "winters to Africa and India" with subspecies wintering ranges listed as:
lapponica: Lapland to Taymyr Peninsula; winters to Africa and India
menzbieri: Breeds Great Plains of N America; winters to Argentina, Chile
baueri: NE Siberia to w Alaska; winters China to New Zealand

Can anyone reference European-continental wintering?

To name just one. Also some thousands of European birders can confirm this

Clements is a very good book as a Checklist. But regarding ranges I found a lot of, well not mistakes, but maybe some inaccuracy. I would go with Clements for species and subspecies, but not for distribution.
