Any tips for Winsford?
I'm going on a course near Winsford and will be staying there for two nights starting tomorrow. Anyone got any tips for places that i could walk to in an evening for some nice bird snaps? I can't drive and I'm not familiar with the area at all.
Pretty new at birding too so I'm not fussed about going in search of a mega rare bird or anything, just need something to do for a few hours each evening and I like walking and taking photos :) I'm going on another course there at the start of september so feel free to keep giving tips after tomorrow, thanks! |

well, i went on a wander this evening after my course, along the river weaver towards a large lake which is apparently known as the flashes locally. saw some grey heron, mallards, mute swan, magpie, coot and moorhen. also tons of wood pigeon. best spot was a kingfisher though which flew past me 3 times in a blue flash. first time i've seen once properly.
the swans, coot and mallards were quite nosey and made an effort to cross the lake just to come and sit right in front of me which was quite pleasing from a photography point of view :) there were a few other unidentifiable brown birds along the way too. |
