i d help needed

i was out on one of my usual areas yesterday, near glasgow, with little success due to heavy rain and mist but as i came down through fields to a busy road the whole area was covered by a loud sharp piercing call. at first i thought of a bizzard as there is usually one in that spot, near good tree cover and mixed scrub.

but it was a different call. definitely two note, distinct notes. a sharp keee or peee followed (joined to) an ooo. as in, keee-ooo. it was repeated for a good ten minutes.

the bird moved around in the tree canopy in the distance, flying short distances, nvefer far. i got a minute on it and it certainly seemed about buzzard size or bigger, and largely brown.

any thoughts ? i have gone on rspb and cant get a sound a like. could it be a young buzzard on its first flights ?

thanks
andy

Hi Andy it does sound very much like you've a juvenile food-begging Buzzard there.

I've one that to call constantly and there's certainly a difference between it and a normal adult's call
