That is a fantastic deal on those Leupolds!

Mine just showed up in the mail today.

It's raining so hard outside that I will have to wait awhile to give them a thorough shakedown. But giving them a quick look out my kitchen window, they offer a nice view, with a bright, pleasing image.

The armor is smooth to the touch, but feels good in the hands, with no unusual smells coming from the rubber coating. The Focus turns smoothly and so does the right eye diopter. The eyecups are a little stiff, but seem robust enough. I do want to pick up some new objective covers. The one that Zeiss provides wants to fall off far too easily. The Rainguard seems well made, though. The neck strap seems comfy too.

It would've been nice if these Terras came with a case of some kind. I guess I can pick one up online.

Overall I am pleased with these for the price. And I can't wait to test them out once we finally get some sunny Spring weather.

It is a nice binocular and that price makes it that much better!

Zeiss makes a black cordura case specifically for the 42mm Terra. I am not sure how they handle the 32mm line. It would be worth it to give Zeiss USA a call to find out what is available.

Mr Star guy is having a sale (got an email, otherwise I wouldn't have known), and one great deal is on the Vixen Foresta 8x32 Porros. I have them, and they are really very good-sometimes the focus may be a little stiff (I can live with it), but the optics are top notch, especially for the money, at this price! $99 and only 2 available-free shipping over $100-don't know how you can bump it up to $100, but these are really nice Porros, if you like that view. I don't believe there is a better deal out there for Porros, but I haven't been active for a while-you might have other better ones, but I doubt it for the price.

Zeiss Terra ED 8X42.... $222.15 SHIPPED. Best price I've ever seen for this binocular. It's gray instead of black but who cares? I can't imagine a better binocular for this budget.

Wanted to edit and mention that Midway has several OTHER good binocular buys on their site.
Thanks Chuck for the original heads-up!

Got mine at 57% off retail...what a bargain for a well made 8X42. Optics and ergonomics Much Better than the Gold Ring I had for 6 months in 2015. Hard to believe how fast the focus is (CF to inf. just 3\4 of a turn)! Sweet spot is at least 85% and sharpness and colors are excellent...Nice!

Actually, these Terras compare favorably to my Victory FL 7X42's (except for that wide 450' FOV)!

Ted

Don't make it so easy for them! Why don't you go for "really crazy" and hide them someplace good. Then you'll earn that title!

You are welcome Ted! I bought a total of THREE. HAHA. I've all ready given one pair away with a Ken Kaufman field guide. The first one is MINE....I paid the most for it. Got one still in the box for.......

It IS a very nice binocular. I actually like the stiff eye cups. I can set them to EXACTLY the position I desire.

I got the Leupold 8X32 Mojaves. They surprised me how nice they are. Excellent Japanese quality all around and they are solid little suckers for their size. Kind of like baby Gold Rings. The optics are really, really good and the focus is very smooth with perfect tension. I like them better than any of the 8x30's. They have less glare and they are not as finicky for eye placement. Huge sweetspot and good CA control for not having ED glass. The eyecups work smooth with no slop and they have two stops with nice comfortable rubber. The case and strap are ok as are the tethered objective covers and rainguard. The diopter adjustment is on the center column under the focus which is impressive for the price. Overall I don't think you could beat these for a small compact 8x32 binocular for the price.

I've had the Mojave 8x32 for a few years now, and agree with everything dennis had to say bout it. It is a very nice binocular, and an absolute steal for under $200. It is one of the very few 8x30/32 class binocs I haven't had to monkey with to get proper eye relief/no kidney beaning or blackouts.

I agree with you jgraider. I tried the Leupold Mojave 8x32 because you said you liked it and Steve's positive review. This is a great deal on a very nice smaller binocular. I tried a lot of the 8x30's and 8x32's and this one seems to be way less finicky than most of them. The eye relief and eye cup length must be right on. Thanks, for the tip.

Binocular bargains

Yes indeed they are great. Like mine a lot. If I am not mistaken Midway had them like a year ago for $125 or $140 don't recall. Among all the 8x30 binos the Mojave 8x32 fit me perfectly. Also no blackout like I would get with many 8x32.
Off topic, it goes to show that a experienced binoculars company knows HOW to design a binocular, that is why the Mojave are very good. So optics is not the only thing, the known how of the binocular design is just as important.

The Zeiss Terra 10x32's I ordered from Midway arrived today and after 20 or so minutes went right back in the box to be returned. I found the optics off in that I couldn't get good focus nor did the binoculars seem well collimated. Could have been a poor sample but these were in no way comparable to the optical quality of my Terra 8x42's.

well with all the problems being brought up about the 32mm Zeiss Terra bins I had to open my box.....Mine are fine....are they the most comfortable to use....no....but I didn't expect a 10x32 to be a comfortable bin in use....but when everything is set just right and I hold them steady the site picture is top notch....and the extra 2x over the 8x32 terra I have is notable....if you just have to get in just a little closer...I think it was a $170 well spent....
