Thanks again for the new coupon code, it saved me yet a further $15 off my Zeiss Victory Pocket 8x25 order, and a free harness to boot. I just got the shipment notice—they must have been afraid at this rate they would owe me money if they kept delaying shipment

Exclamation

Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32's (Great Glass and Ergonomics with wide 420ft FOV) at CABELA's with additional 10% off coupon (use promo code 7TENOFF), free shipping and Cabela's 90-day satisfaction guarantee!!

Overall, 48% off previous MSRP (FWIW, this is a discontinued model) and IMHO, a fantastic bargain and value in an 8X32!

Don't know if it is a bargain but it is a real good binocular! I have one. Allbinos thinks so too. It is still ranked #6 in their ratings of 8x32s.

Good luck with it!

Amazon D of D: Bushnell Legend Ultra HD M 10X42 $164.99

The Amazon Deal of the Day is offering the Bushnell Legend M 10X42 for $164.99.

https://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Lege...804080_dotd_lm

Bushnell website:

http://bushnell.com/all-products/bin...eries-10x-42mm

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzufPuG2rWY

Current price at B & H Photo, Optics Planet and Midway is $299.

Here is a review of the 10X42 from Allbinos:

https://www.allbinos.com/index.html?...tki&test_l=315

Here is a review from Lee on the 8X42 version:

http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=342002

I looked at one at Cabela's when it first came out and had a favorable impression. I suspected it to be from the same family as the Zen-Ray ED3, which I found to be similar.

This binocular has ED glass and di-electric prism coatings and a wide FOV of 340 feet. That is a lot of features for well under $200. Eye relief is only 15 mm so that may be a problem for some eyeglass wearers. It may have a little bit more pin cushion relative to some other models. What is interesting is the Allbinos transmission curve which is almost flat with a transmission nearing 90%.

Eagle Optics End of Era 20% or More Off Sale

Eagle Optics announced today that they will be closing their doors December 31, 2017. As a result, they are selling all products discounted 20% or more.

The discount appears to already be included in the prices shown on the website.

All sales are final, no returns.

https://www.eagleoptics.com/

If the Viglink web page appears, look for the blue box that has the text continue to Eagle Optic and click on it.

Eagle Optics is a Vortex company. Vortex is protective in normally not allowing disounts on their products so I assume as that is why all Vortex binoculars have been removed from the Eagle Optics website.

This is good time to get a deal on Swaro products, which like Vortex, are normally not discounted. Swaro products remain and are showing discounts along with Zeiss and Leica.

A thread discussing the closure of Eagle Optics can be found here......

After reading the news of the closing of Eagle Optics, and studying the closeout prices, I found it hard to resist. I ordered 2 binoculars. Yes, one for me to compare to others in my stable, and one to supplement my wife's 8x32 Swarovski Els that have been sent to SONA for repair after a hiking accident in Oregon this summer.

This whole compulsive exercise reminds of me of my (now curtailed) guitar obsessiveness from another decade. The good news is that binoculars are generally far less expensive than many desirable guitars. I'm not sure there's any 'bad' news to report. I wear glasses, so I'm try to amass a group of binoculars that I find agreeable to my ergonomic/eye relief concerns, and then spend as much time as I need to determine which one's do the best at providing a quality view. The experiment continues...

Thanks Bruce.

Sorry to see Eagle Optics fold after all these years, but my brother got a nice buy on a Celestron Regal M2 80 ED and a tripod. I can't wait to look through it!

Well....I just got to thinking.. I'll prob never get a NIB WHATEVER for less than right now..(now a couple of days ago). I like the Noctivid 10X42 so much that YES....a Noctivid 8X42 was the purchase! $500 off was just too much to resist. Yesterday I ordered a couple more of the RYO harnesses and a couple of the EO Denali 8X42 to give away or for gifts. I don't know of a better binocular for that amount of money.

EO Denali

Chuck,

I saw one of your posts a while back about the denali. Is it safe to assume the one you've had good experience with is the updated model? When read your first comments on the denali, I wondered if it was the old or new model as they were both available at the time. Thanks!

Ailevin .... You are welcome!

wdc ...... Interesting experiment. I would be curious on what models you ordered if you are comfortable in sharing that information.

Good job Chuck! I went through the same thought process with the 10X42 SF. The Red Hawk Rifle sale was an offer I could not refuse. I am looking forward to reading how the two Noctivids compare. The Leica rep told me the exceptional 3D that the Nocrivid is supposed to have is more apparent in the 8x.

After much debate between me, myself and I this afternoon, I ordered the new model of the 10X42 iMagic (now sold out).

I also ordered a new style Swaro Profield bag in size L for a non Profield 12X50 EL SV. The older style bag is just to big. The sale price is about $56 bucks, still high, but then it is a Swaro! There are still some left in L, M and XL ($4 more). The M works well for the SLC 42 mm. So for those who have the near suitcase size bag and want something smaller and remain all Swaro, here is a chance to save a little bit. Free shipping.

Here is a thread on the new style Profield cases ....

Binocular bargains

Does Swaro Field Bag M Pro size come with some kind of belt/strap to use over the shoulder or is the bag only ?

The Swarovskis went almost immediately, though there is a pair of EL SV 8x32 left. Quite a lot of Leica and Zeiss non-SF remaining, this shows the relative popularity. The Leica monoculars seem to be much more popular than their binoculars. There are also some Gitzo tripod leg sets, those seldom ever go on sale.

Not binoculars, but I yielded and ordered a Meopta Meostar S2 spotting scope.

Yes, I am looking forward to it, my first spotting scope. Now I just need to figure out how to attach the Manfrotto-style QR foot to my Arca-style tripod heads.

MM .... Both the size M and L bags, and I assume the XL bag, come with a shoulder strap. You can see it in the pictures embedded in the Swaro bag thread.

http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=320118

fazalmajid ...... Sounds nice. That scope has generated a lot of positive comments.

I have the previous model. It is a really nice binocular for the money. So basically i AM kinda crossing my fingers that this new one will at the very least be AS GOOD as the previous model...

Bruce, I picked up a pair of 8x42 Zeiss Conquests, something I'd had my eyes on for about a year. I'll add it to my other 8x42 bins in rotation to see if one stands out above the rest. (or maybe they all come from very similar parents, and I'm just fooling myself. Time will tell... Tract Toric, Vanguard ED II, Nikon MHG. So far, its the ergo details that distinguish them all from each other... weight, IPD, eye relief, focuser direction, play, speed. I can't even say that FOV, when I'm out birding, has really reared its head as playing a huge role in my perceptions.

I also picked up a pair of Opticron Traveller BGA EDs, as my wife's Swaro el 8x32s were damaged in a hiking accident earlier this summer. They are currently at the repair facility for an estimated 6-8 week stay. Perfect excuse to pick up a 'temporary replacement'.
