Thanks Bill. the Conquest is a very nice binocular. You may already know this but Zeiss offers an optional eye cup that extends farther for viewing without eye glasses. You said you are testing for use with eye glasses but this may apply to you. I think the optional eye cup does not sit as close to the eye piece lens when retracted as does the original. If the supplied eye cup is to close for you when fully retracted and the first extension is to far, then give the optional eye cup a try. Zeiss USA has been sending them out free after a phone call request.

It would be great if you could start a new thread with your results after completing the comparisons.

Bruce, Thanks for the tip on the alternative eyecups. I hadn't considered that option, as I've yet to run into a situation with any of the bins I've got, or have tried, where I needed to back out an eye cup when viewing with my glasses on.

When I've reached some useful conclusions on my research, I'll post something.

Bill

Ok so I have the new Denali 8X42 in hand(along with the previous model of course) and can offer a little more quickly put together info...

Quite honestly they don't seem like the same model binocular. I could tell at an instant the new model is heaver...

Previous- 22.9 oz
New- 26.4 oz

That's from a digital scale with objective covers. It felt like more weight difference.

Both come in a similar case...basically in terms of included stuff, equal.

Focus adjustment is smooth for both: Very nice. The very center of the image seems slightly better with the old model. VERY slightly as in probably not noticeable for most and probably not worth mentioning. Toward the edges the old model stays in focus closer to the edge. BUT...no doubt the new model has more FOV. Spec list new model as 393ft@1000 yds. Can't remember what the number of the previous model was.

New model seems to be better constructed. Not as messy in each barrel. Cleaner construction. Eye cups on both function really good. Focus knob and diopter adjustment ring both are improved quality on the new model.

Conclusion? For a sub $150 binocular....I don't see how one could go wrong!

$80 Promo on Tract Toric Binoculars

The promo code is ELKCAMP 17, ending on the 26th. I've been on the fence about these since they came out but this promo has now pushed me over. Thanks to all for the thoughtful comments and reviews on these glasses. My wife, of course, insists that the arrival of the Toric means something else has to leave, and my Opticron 8 x 32 SR GA is the likely candidate.

If you sign up for an Amazon.com credit card you can get another $70.00 off the Bresser's plus 5% off all future purchases. That makes them $103.00 shipped. Not bad for a binocular that Frank said was a bargain at $900.00 and he would buy a pair if he could afford them. Well Frank can you afford them now? Boy China glass sure does drop in price. They must be making them for about $50.00. Here is Frank's review on them.

I expect that they will be weaver super slam-ish, but won't know for sure until Wednesday. If they are anything close to the Weaver or Brunton Epoch 8.5x I will be very, very, pleased.

Plus, they're 80% off of the $800 street price so I can tell my wife: "I didn't want to. I HAD to..."

I just received the Montana's. I would echo Frank in stating that these are an all-around solid binocular. They are build well and remind me very much of my Brunton Epoch's in both view and construction. Like...I honestly don't know if I could tell the difference in a side x side comparison. MAYBE the Montana's image softens a little more near the edge but then they seem to have a wider FOV, I would have to verify to be sure of that. Eye relief is good for eyeglasses. The focus speed is almost ideal, and very precise. They are BRIGHT.

Clearly, these are a step up from some of the sub $400 stuff out there today, but they should be. I suppose they're in the mix with the sub-$1,000 stuff, but I just haven't spend enough time with many binoculars in that class to say for sure. There are some pretty heavy hitters up there with the Toric, Conquest HD, Razor, etc.

Good to know you like them. That was a great bargain. They have been going up in price on Amazon.com. They are up to $258.00 now. Amazon uses a computer program that raises the price based on demand. When they sell more the price goes up. I have too many binoculars to buy any more but that was a good catch. What is almost ironic is Bresser has the identical binocular listed on Amazon.com for $1346.00.

Optics Planet Anniversary Sale

Optics Planet is having a sale to celebrate their 17th anniversary.

Most binocualars 13% off with checkout code WLBN

Spotting scopes 12% off with checkout code WLSS

Plus other items ....

Ends Tuesday, October 24 12:00 AM CDT.

Most of their sales are 10% off so this is a nice extra. I tested the 13% off on Zeiss Conquest and SF, Nikon HG and GPO and it looked to work. It even worked on a Zeiss SF black model demo.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/u-spcem...732f68525a4243

Note: Link does show firearms products.

If the link first takes you to the Viglink page, then look for blue long box on the left side about 1/2 way down that says "Continue to opticsplanet . com" and click on it.

I noticed the discounts apply to items that do not show up on the sales list for a category so add the item to the cart and then enter the appropriate category coupon code to see if it works. It is good way to get a nice price on some models that are almost never on sale.

Tract Tekoa Fall Classic $100 Off Promotion

Tract Optics has a Fall Classic promotion going on that knocks $100 off the price of any Tekoa product.

10X42 Tract Tekoa was $464 ..... Now $364

8X42 Tract Tekoa was $454 ..... Now $354

Use checkout code TEKOA2017

Promotion Valid through 10/24/2017.

That is about a 22% discount on Tekoa binoculars, which is not bad.

I have a pair of these and they are quite good. Much better than the $169 price tag for sure. And they are sub-midsize IMO. Darn near compacts. Much smaller than my Sightron Blue Sky 8x32's
