Wonder what the real price would have been? I think 100 off from EO price at best.

Given their other pricing ... more than EOs.

Say $220 or perhaps $270 (which would explain a few things!).

I would hold on to them a few weeks, see what the deal is. You can call to straighten out the bill, I presume.

I think orbitaljump won the prize!

Checking the site there no listings for any Bushnell Legend bins so perhaps they mispriced and ran out of stock!

Ok, my pair came today as well, even though the order had supposedly been canceled by Sports Authority. Definitely my best buy ever. Happy Holidays!

Interesting. I got a follow up note from SA:

Quote:
Dear Valued Customer,

We have just been notified that the Bushnell Legend Series WP/FP
Binoculars will no longer be available at the listed price.
Unfortunately, this item has been cancelled from your order for this
reason. If you have any question regarding this cancellation, please
reference our Terms and Conditions, item #3: http://www.sportsauthority.com/helpd...bdisplay=terms

We realize that you had planned on receiving the Bushnell Legend Series
WP/FP Binoculars. In our inventory, we carry a number of products that
may be similar to the one on your original order. We are sure that we
have a similar product that will serve as a suitable replacement for the
item canceled from your order.
Where are you located oribitaljump? JohnJos is in NJ (close to SA distribution?).

Perhaps DHB and myself in WA state still have bins in the hold of some UPS truck chugging through the frozen Rockies?

Maybe there really is a Santa Claus

Mine package had the same SA origin address, Overland, KS.

I also received the exact same e-mail about an hour after my Legends arrived via UPS.

Hopefully. I called about my order last week and the fellow just said it had been cancelled. I grumbled about it and that was it. I never asked anymore. Just in case.....

I had mine sent Priority Mail so maybe tomorrow........

Yes. Bushnell is HQ'rd in Overland, KS. IIRC.

Sounds like SA is having these drop shipped unless they have a warehouse there.

So it would take a bit longer to get the West Coast from Bushnell HQ (inside a hollowed out volcano, I presume ).

We live in hope.

I hope there is a Santa Claus and you do get the binoculars. However you might have used up your luck in the "heck-of-a-too-good-to-be-true" deal with the $55 Pentax WP's. Me. I'm just jealous I didn't see the thing sooner. I can always rationalize that I really don't need an 8x42 Legend. Hey for that price, I'd take two and sell my Monarch.

Got my two pair just now, an hour after reading the email. I have a pending charge for $63.91 on my credit card.
Took them outside for a look at the stars, streetlights, and such. These are actually quite nice, and the FOV/AFOV seems bigger than the specs suggest.

edit: Now I've got to figure out who to give ONE pair to, instead of both, 'cause I'm keeping one. Love the ergos.

edit2: These handle stray light much better than the Browning 8x32s-that model's Achilles heel on an otherwise very good binocular. Hopefully they're as good during the daytime as far as color and contrast go.

If I don't get them I won't be at all miffed. I'd already given up hope on them.

Just seems like the ending of "Miracle of the 34th Binocular" or "It's a Wonderful Pair of Binoculars" or "Frosty the Binouholic".

Very Christmassy. Or something.

Kevin - Maybe we are still in the running...........

I don't need one of them either but for the price I ordered two..........

I just sold a couple sets so I'm ok..... I am probably going to sell my 8.5EL's also, seems ridiculous since the Promasters arrived.......

I will probably keep my Leica 10x42 for nostalgia (and I stole them) and in case the Promasters give up down the road and Promaster doesn't have a equivilent replacement.

Ha! Ha!

I agree with Owen, they do look wider than that specs suggest. And I love the ergos too. Pinky fingers are on the barrels and the form fitting protrusions at the eyepiece end of the barrels are fantastic....and help hold the bino with one hand securely.
