I still can't beilve, whole year and bit without seeing a redwing, Then 10 pop up in the garden! Just goes to show. You never know what might visit next. I feel much more hopeful now for other new birds. So going to see what this year brings.

Still haven't seen...LTT, greenfinches, song thrush, blackcaps and birds like that. It's possible they might of visited when not looking, but never seen them my self.

Still really busy in our yards with tons of Chipping Sparrows, House Sparrows, White-winged Doves, Am Goldfinch etc. Two comparatively infrequent visitors today - Mourning Dove and Pine Warbler.

The smallest visitor today was a Rufous Hummingbird. The biggest was a flyover Turkey Vulture. Quite a range of size!

Thanks. In fact, they're very easy to photograph because they circle overhead (looking to see if you're likely to die soon).

agreed

The body language of the bird defending the crop is brilliant to watch and something you dont get to see when they are in a large flock. The fanned tail ande flicking and the gesture of showing the rear end, then they swoop low with the final stall and stance...

5 Greenfinches
4 Blue Tits
2 Great Tits
2 Magpie
2 Doves
4 Woodpidgeon
1 Goldfinch
1 Dunnock
1 Robin
1 Wren
2 House Sparrows
3 Chaffinch
3 Blackbirds

Has been seen so far today. For the weather being as cold as it is, I am surprised it has not been busier. Unless they are managing to find food elsewhere?

A male blackcap has just appeared to make it 27 species in our Sussex garden so far today. Just one more species to equal the day record (11 years of GBW). Pied wagtail would seem the most likely, as one has flown low into a neighbour's garden at least twice today but sparrowhawk is also a good bet.

A very handsome and welcome male bullfinch turned up at 16:54 to feed on some of the few remaining berries on the privet hedge to equal our garden day record of 28 species. Can't wait to enter that lot into GBW!
