Survey for the White-chested White-eye
Since the last survey for the White-chested White-eye was in 2005 i would like to know whether or when there will be a new survey for this species on Norfolk Island.

Wow what an amazing response u have had Melanie, according to Birdlife International the 2005 is an unconfirmed sighting "Although formal searches have failed to find any in the last two decades, there have been scattered sightings throughout this period, including four in 1978, one in 1979, one in 1981, one in 1987, two in 1991, four in 1994 and one in March 2000. Since then a number of unconfirmed reports have been logged from the Norfolk Island National Park, most recently in 2005" I have been unable to find any information since then

I fear that this bird might be extinct after all . First reason: The habitat is too small (even if a fence is around it). Second reason: The possible hybridization with other white-eye species might led to the result that there are no pure-breed White-chested white-eye anymore.
