Bird ID Central Texas
I took this photo today near a pond and it's the first time I have seen this bird. Actually there were a pair hunting insects in the low bushes. Please help with an id. Thanks.

Nice photo of a White Crowned Sparrow. I had three or four around my backyard feeders back in the Spring here in North Central Texas, but haven't seen any since early May.

I was birding in Floresville at a friend's farm when I took this photo. The red-tailed hawks were out in great numbers putting on a show in the morning. There were also a few crested carcaras but I never could get close enough for any great shots.

The Red-tailed Hawks seem to be out in force this Fall. On a trip to College Station two weekends ago, I saw nine sitting atop highline poles adjacent to open fields within a forty mile stretch between Reisel and Hearne on Highway 6. I figure they were looking for a meal.

Really good picture! I think it is a white-crowned sparrow because of the pattern on the head, you got it clear on the head.
