Redpoll, But which one, and why? UK
I took this photo of a redpoll this morning, its the best of four pictures and none shows the rump or breast.
Its a Redpoll, Female, but which one? Thanks in advance!

Obviously impossible to judge size but the complete lack of brown points at Common Redpoll, as does the whiteness of the wing-bars.

Would go for (common) Redpoll. Small yellowish bill, and white wing bars.

looks like a common (mealy) to me, very pale, distinct wingbar, not a lesser which look dark and compact, apparently common is do-able on call, not to my ears, but i don't see that many redpolls in London (especially the last couple of years) anyone out there got any tips on vocals?

Bizarrely I was reading on this blog 20 minutes ago; http://menziebirding.blogspot.com/ (30 Nov if new entries come on).
A reasonable starting point anyway . . .

calls, yep I've heard there is a difference, some say slighty deeper-toned.
Tried this out at Thorndon CP last week whilst dipping Arctic Redpoll, had about c100 overhead redpoll spp. All sounded (to my ear) like the typical 'chet-chet-chet' of cabaret (though there were apparently only minor numbers of cabaret amongst 400 Mealies/Common, which means two things; either every bird over my head that day was a Lesser or I can't do overhead Mealy. Whatever the case, I'd be enormously reticent identifying an overhead Mealy on call.
