Martin, in the US, I have not seen a lot of difference in the pricing between new and used where new can be bought for $5650 USD. I just checked the completed auctions for the 500mm on eBay and there was no advantage to buying used.

Good luck with your quest.

I'd have a check with Kerso. When I bought my 300 f2.8 from him earlier this year it was at least £100 cheaper than the second-hand ones I'd seen at the time.

Certainly worth a try Frank but at todays dollar/pound exchange rate the prices in the states are not really any cheaper than the UK so I doubt if Ian's prices are so competitive.

Ian (Kerso) emailed to say he couldn't compete with current UK prices when I enquired about my 500f4 at the beginning of this month, so went with Warehouse Ex as they price-match. Good luck.

I got mine from Jacobs, for most things a lot cheaper than Whorehouse express. when i got mine it was £300 cheaper. Delivery is by DHL who normally deliver next day on their 2-3 working day service unless your in Shetland or somewhere similarly remote.

Jacobe seem to be the cheapest at the moment, but they haven't got any stock. All the HK dealers are well over £4000 as well whereas not long ago they were about £3600.

I'd guess someone selling one S/H would be looking for about £3300-£3500 which again is considerably more than they were fetching a few months ago

As the UK suppliers run out of stock and have to replenish I reckon the prices will go up due to the exchange rates - now could be a good time to buy.
